Does your agency get the resources it needs to provide a responsible level of public safety for your community? If not, perhaps it’s because decision-makers don’t recognize the value you provide. If that’s the case, then public safety professionals must look at whether they have done a good job of identifying and communicating their value.
To truly demonstrate the effectiveness of public safety agencies, their leaders must make the first “sale” to themselves and to their members. This means they must be able to articulate clearly the value they provide, take ownership of it, and communicate it persuasively to decision-makers and the community. If you would like to become more proficient in doing these things, then I invite you to register for a complimentary IAFC-sponsored webinar that I will conduct on June 4th. You will be able to:
-
1. Identify the value your agency provides.
2. Frame the value in ways that the community will support you.
3. Address some of the obstacles that accompany innovation and change.
